iMX6 Rex - 12 layer pcb
IMX6 REX
iMX6 processor, up to 1.2GHz / 4 cores
This was the course project of advanced pcb layout course(fedevel) by Robert Feranec. This course covered a lot of valuable content related to practical pcb design of high speed boards.
Sofware used: Altium Designer
Course content:
I ) Placement
2) Basic Rules & Basic Stackup, Fanout under CPU, DDR3 preliminary layout
3) Boord fanout, Planning Layout, Crosstalk, impedances & Stickup
4) High Speed Design Rules & Routing, Loyer ordering
5) Number of layers, Layout
6) Length matching, About memory routing, Polygons & Power Planes
7) Checking PCB, Length tuning, Finishing PCB, Generoting & Checking gerber files
I must confess that I can't take full credit for this project's design. Being my first attempt at creating a board of this nature, I had to rely on existing placement and fanout techniques while closely following the routing procedure of the course. However, the knowledge I've acquired throughout this has been incredibly valuable.
Currently, my focus is on designing the base board for our IMX6 development board, which essentially serves as the motherboard for this processor. I've started this layout from scratch and have made significant headway, completing about 60% of it.
I'm excited to share more about this project in my next blog post: IMX6 baseboard
